Jobs at the Foundation

Summer traineeship

The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation was founded following the assassination of Daphne on the 16th October 2017. Our primary objective is to seek full justice for Daphne and for the corruption she exposed. Our team of lawyers, here in London and in Malta, have already made history. They won landmark constitutional cases on freedom of expression and the right to life, they have brought the number of posthumous libel suits against Daphne down from 43 to 25, are fighting alongside prosecutors to convict three hitmen and one mastermind, and they have succeeded in pressuring Malta’s government into convening a public inquiry into the state failures that enabled her assassination—Malta’s first truth and justice commission.

Our mission

Malta has been struggling to protect human rights, uphold the rule of law, and address the high-level corruption Daphne exposed as an investigative journalist. The foundation is working to address these problems both in Malta and internationally by:

  1. ensuring the public interest of full justice for Daphne’s assassination by using all legal means available;
  2. supporting efforts to protect investigative journalists by collaborating with international organisations;
  3. preserving Daphne’s work by creating a digital archive of all significant print and online material produced by her;
  4. promoting a culture of public interest litigation by ensuring that journalists, media organisations, and victims of political discrimination, abuse of power, and state collusion in criminal activity, have access to justice;
  5. supporting independent, non-partisan media by promoting the growth and resilience of independent media organisations and investigative journalists.

Traineeship description
